@SmileWhite

With so many shoutouts from raving fans, it’s hard to keep track, but we do our best.

Curious about anything?

How does Smile White work exactly?

After your e-consultation with one of our experts, you’ll visit your local Smile White dentist for a check-up and 3D scan of your teeth. Your clear aligners will then be manufactured and sent back to the dentist within just 3-5 weeks. This will ensure an Accurate fitment to provide you with the best results. Your dentist will monitor your progress throughout your treatment to ensure that you receive the smile you have always dreamed of. It’s that simple!

Where is my local Smile White dentist?

Our network features 400+ dentists conveniently located across the UK, so you're never too far from an approved professional. You’ll find out where your nearest dentist is during your initial consultation.

How often do I have to wear my clear aligners?

For the best results, your clear aligners need to be worn for 20-22 hours every day. Ideally, you should only remove them to eat, drink and brush your teeth.

Can I eat and drink as normal with my clear aligners in?

Always remove your clear aligners before eating and drinking, as they can be easily damaged or stained (even by soft drinks). You can only drink water with your clear aligners in.

After I eat, do I have to brush my teeth before putting my aligners back in?

It’s a good idea to brush your teeth before replacing your aligners, as food particles may make the inside of your aligners dirty, leading to bad odours.

Can I just wear my aligners at night?

If you only wear aligners at night, you won’t achieve the tooth movement necessary for a straighter smile. For the best results, your aligner should be worn for 20-22 hours per day.

How long do I have to wear my retainers after the aligners?

After you finish your aligner treatment, the bones under your teeth will still be regrowing. Without retainers, they may go back to their original position. We recommend wearing your retainers for at least six months.

Are the aligners invisible?

Although not completely invisible, Smile White clear aligners are very discreet and hard-to-detect.

Do clear aligners hurt?

You may experience some mild discomfort as your teeth move, but this is a good sign! It shows that your aligner treatment is working correctly.

Why are clear aligners better than traditional braces?

Clear aligners are significantly more discreet compared to traditional metal braces, which can appear unsightly. They are also known for their enhanced comfort, as they do not involve the wires and brackets that often cause discomfort associated with traditional braces.

Can I have clear aligners if my teeth are crowded?

Yes! In fact, clear aligners are ideal for the treatment of crowded teeth. By slowly moving the teeth, they create the normal amount of space between them.

Does Smile White provide whitening with my aligner treatment?

At Smile White’s discretion, we gift our Whitening Treatment as part of our aligner product purchased.

How can I finance my aligners?

We have many financing options available to suit the needs of our customers including Tabeo, Omni Retail Finance and Snap Finance

What is IPR and what does it do?

IPR is a routine dental treatment for crowded teeth that need a bit of extra room before a teeth straightening treatment. Dentists most often use a diamond coated sanding bag to shave off no more than 0.5mm of enamel, allowing teeth to glide into position. IPR is quick, easy and pain-free, but you may feel mild discomfort.

What are attachments and what do they do?

Attachments are small, teeth-coloured composite “dots” that are strategically placed on specific teeth to provide the ideal amount of tension for precise micro-movements. They also help your aligners stay fixed in place while you’re wearing them. Each dot is removed after treatment during the debonding appointment.

Who should I contact if I need support during treatment?

If you have any questions about your aligner journey, next steps or need treatment updates, please email us at hello@smilewhite.co.uk and we’ll get in touch as soon as possible.

For clinical concerns, such as bleeding gums, discolouration, extreme pain or discomfort, sore or inflamed tongue, contact your assigned dentist immediately.

My aligners don’t fit properly/my teeth aren’t moving quickly enough?

Get in touch with your assigned dentist if your aligners aren’t fitting properly, or you’re not noticing as much movement as expected. They’ll be able to get you back on track.

My retainer is lost/broken, can I get a replacement?

Don’t worry, it happens. If you lose or break a retainer, contact your assigned dentist as soon as you can. They’ll be able to arrange a replacement, which typically takes around 10 working days to arrive at their practice ready for collection. Replacements are available within reason and at our discretion.

What if I lose an aligner?

Don’t worry, it happens. If you lose or break an aligner, contact your assigned dentist as soon as you can. They’ll be able to arrange a replacement, which typically takes around 10 working days to arrive at their practice ready for collection. Replacements are available within reason, the sooner you get in touch with your dentist, the sooner we can get you back on track.

What if my teeth aren’t fully straight at the end of treatment?

If you’ve worn your aligners correctly and they don’t match your treatment plan, we can provide refinements at the discretion of your assigned dentist.

Can I make changes to my treatment plan?

If you’re unhappy with your treatment plan, please discuss this directly with your assigned dentist. They can give you clear clinical insight for the best possible course of action based on your smile goals and dental scan.

What do the numbers on my treatment plan mean?

The numbers at the bottom of your treatment plan indicate the number of weeks your aligner plan will take. Every week (or two), you’ll switch aligners to the next set until your treatment is complete! Your dentist will talk through how often you’ll need to change your aligners based on your treatment plan.

What are the pink dots on my plan?

These pink dots represent the attachment “dots” that’ll be strategically placed on your teeth for the most accurate and predictive results. They’ll be the same colour as your teeth (so undetectable) and will be removed at the end of treatment during your debonding appointment. The decimal numbers on your treatment plan represent IPR treatments.

What do aligners feel like during treatment?

It’s completely normal to feel mild discomfort as your teeth move into position, but if you feel pain or anything unusual, please contact your assigned dentist immediately.

Can I reschedule my next appointment?

Yes, just contact your assigned dental practice and rearrange your appointment for a better time that suits your schedule. If you have any other questions regarding your appointments, please contact your dentist for clarity.
